Love triangle plots are overdone and should stop being a thing.

EDIT: Also, as a side note, the traditional “love triangle” of “Person A is interested in Person B. Person B is interested in Person C.” isn’t really a Love Triangle, but a Love Angle. If it were a true triangle, it would have to have Person C being interested in Person A, because triangles require three sides.

My issue with love triangles is that, more often than not, the writer makes one person in the love triangle a jerk so they can push their preferred result, regardless of whether that would actually fit the characters.

Personally I like the idea of them, provided it’s fleshed out, has a reason, and isn’t contrived. Can be some good angst fuel.
