I enjoyed most of Chinese Democracy. Can’t say the same for most of “The Spaghetti Incident?” though, if it “counts”.

I found it weird that Axl insisted on that song even after Slash(half black) told him he was uncomfortable about it.
 
I understand he was pissed about I incidents with cops and Blacks and being almost raped by a gay guy but I hope he realises how bigoted he was

I cannot consider System of a Down nu metal - they do spoken word instead of rapping, which already disqualifies them form being labelled as such. same for Slipknot.
 
and, despite paving the way for it, Rage against the Machine and Beastie Boys aren’t nu metal either. they’re most likely rap metal and rap rock, respectively.

That’s what I said, Machine and the Boys aren’t considered that despite being the progenitors of the genre.

but how can a band be nu metal if they don’t fit the bill?? that’s why I refrain from identifying bands with certain genres.

Yeah. He was also pretty notoriously homophobic at the time, though that’s more understandable if we go by what we’ve learned about his father.

Ehhh, that’s a cover album. And while GNR usually nail their covers (“Knockin’ on Heaven’s Door,” “Mama Kin,” “Sympathy for the Devil,” and “Live and Let Die” come to mind), I don’t know why that album wasn’t as consistent in terms of the quality of covers. Maybe just because the members were all at each other’s throats, and that was when Axl started firing members left and right.
 
But I consider Chinese Democracy to be worse because it took so damn long to make, yet was of such a low quality.

Google classified Metallica as a nu metal band. When I saw that, I was like, “WTF?”

Hell, Google also classifies Skillet as Thrash Metal.

You know, Linkara’s videos on Cassandra Cain helped me understand the problem with creatives taking the lead instead of business people (as in their bad extremes, since business and creativity themselves aren’t bad if they balance one another), which isn’t “everyone makes what they want,” but “everyone creates what I/we want,” which screws over properties or characters that the heads don’t care for, even if they have a solid following that supports it/them.

You should see how bad Cassandra Cain got screwed over due to that mindset than. It’s a bad that can cut off your favorite franchise that’s going strong because the higher ups don’t care about it and either discontinue it or hand it off to people who aren’t good or ready for it so the batter talent would go to what the higher ups want them to go to, not for money but because they want their favorite to trive and be popular.

At the same time, HxH and One Piece are a lot better due to the creators being given full control, while others who had “Editors” force their visions on the creators went to shit
 
It’s not even just Manga, Hellboy is most consistent than most superhero comics due to being written by one person

And sometimes, the editors need to step in and tell the person “no,” and multiple writers can keep things fresh where one would reach the limit of their creativity or perspective alone. There are good and bad examples of both sides.

George Lucas gives a good example. The Empire Strikes Back is considered to be the best movie of the Star Wars serious, precisely because he had somebody sitting across from him to tell him “No George, that’s stupid, don’t do that.”

The entire thing isn’t available. A lot of scenes are reordered, and some original takes that were….way less than stellar are in. It’s also paced weird.
 
His ex-wife was lead editor. She reordered a lot of it, and made him do some reshoots.
