Most of the classic (aka really old) videogames I play are good enough that modding them would only bring the experience down. Fallout 3, New Vegas, and Fallout 4 are psycopathic violence/decent human being simulators for me so I wouldn’t necessarily need sexy mods to keep me entertained.

well, the people are often genuinely unsavory. But I think they should just be left in relative obscurity

The you Bastard trope is really pertinacious and seems like it is going on the logic of “liking violent stuff will make you violent!”

Personally, I think The Simpsons Game did the Deconstruction Game best because it doesn’t put the blame on the players but rather the creators for putting the characters in these situations.

It makes sense. if you are going to be mad at someone for making you do all this sort of stuff for someone amusement, don’t take it out on the person playing it, take it out on the guys that created it in the first place.

That’s what i didn’thlike about spec ops the line. The game mocking me for stuff it gives me no options about.

I don’t care what anyone says, that’s part of why Undertale did the “Don’t do the bad thing” message so much better than Spec Ops from a meta standpoint.
 
When you look at it in-universe standpoint and ignore the fact that you had literally no option but to be a bastard when you play it, Spec Ops has a pretty good story about the lengths one’s willing to go to be a “hero” and how badly you can fuck things up even with the best of intentions.
 
But the whole “NONE OF THIS WOULD’VE HAPPENED IF YOU HAD JUST STOPPED” message falls kinda flat from the perspective of a player who has been railroaded into not being able to stop.
 
Undertale meanwhile not only encourages you to be a good boy, but ALLOWS YOU to be a good boy AND see the consequences of what happens if you do the bad thing. It actually lets you choose.

Undertale bugged me for a different reason. I find it punishes you too much for killing.
 
See, on my first playthrough i didn’t know you could spare Toriel, so i killed her. Her death was so heartbreaking i decided to never kill again and play kind from then on.
 
Then my ending comes and… it basically tells me the human world is doomed. So my adventure was meaningless and my attempt at atoning for my sin is irrelevant. I expected a punishment. I killed someone after all, but ending the world? It just really really sucked and made me feel like i shouldn’t have bothered playing.
 
It got a bit better when i started thinking of that run as the first half of my story, since i played a pacifist run right after. But even there i was still pissed i had to play the same shit over again. Then i got a lame final boss i couldn’t even lose to, meaning i get no sense of accomplishment at the end.

I agree with that. I don’t even like Undertale but I know it made this meta comentary better than any game when gives you no choice.

And on this topic, I actually want more games that reward you for being a bastard.

THIS. I am so tired of the “Good” route being the only route that gives benefits while the ONLY possible positive that comes from the “Bad” side is a fatter wallet and (sometimes) slightly better equipment, even worse when the “bad” side also comes with a ton of penalties that negate the good parts.
 
Give me a good, compelling story for the bad side. Give me complex characters that are bad for their own twisted moral reasons rather than the one-dimensional obviously evil douchebags like Caesar in New Vegas. Give me perks and benefits that can only be obtained by being a ruthless jackass the same way you only get certain benefits by being a goody two-shoes for an entire game. Give me a reason to play all sides of a story rather than a slightly different ending card.

I think the Overlord games done something like that, by having the choices be “Evil” and “Slightly less evil”.
 
Like if you took over a village, you had the option of either killing everyone there and burning it to the ground, or force everyone there to be your slaves.

There needs to be art of Omega Flowey getting killed after losing at the end of Neutral run in Undertale.

I don’t mind sexy character, it’s characters that have that as their main/only trait that pisses me off.

I want there to be a Nights 3 and a System Shock 3.

I’m no looking forward to Justice League at all. Wonder Woman was great, but it had all the elements in place to make it a fluke, and I’m incredibly sceptical that they can make this movie work
