There are some memes that, to me personally at least, will never get old. Like “Over 9000”.

I like Fallout more than Elder Scrolls.

I don’t get why people think the Eternal Darkness game is amazing. I found the combat dull, the sanity meter was gimmicky and I thought the plot missed the point many people praise Lovecraft’s writing for (even though I’ve mentioned that in a way he undercuts himself too.) The thing that makes the gods scary is how unknowable, enigmatic and all powerful they are. The gods in ED are arrogant cartoon villains on par with Skeletor, complete with their beleaguered weary servant. And in the end it turns out they were all being manipulated by someone else. Making them the exact opposite of threatening.

That one is still somewhat around for whatever reason but im talking more like all your base, numa numa, caramelldansen and others that took longer to get old than Harambe did.
 
Internet has become more mainstream so more people are in on the joke and so now everyone is sick of them more quickly.

I was still tired of those memes when they were new. I’m not that tired of Toddposting yet, it somehow always seems relevant.

But the point is is that generally they were around for a longer period than Harambe, The Nutshack, leafy #nochin, keemstar gnome, We Are Number One. Its like every single meme from last year died within like 2 months. None of them lasted for a whole year.

After watching Matpat’s video on the youtube algorithm as described by google’s research report, it honestly makes Youtube sound like the shallowest most anti-creator place in the universe.
 
The main one for me, the system actively discourages you from trying new things once you’ve found your meal ticket, by having your uploads become blocked from the feeds of your subscribers if they miss a few of your videos.
 
Also you need to be able to upload every day, and the videos that get preferential treatment need to be long and promote extended amounts of watchtime. Meaning the system sounds designed to encourage lazy rushed worked that never experiments.

Wow… Youtube needs More than just a new CEO and a choice to return to the old Channel setup. They need to REVAMP their algorithm for videos big time. If only Jawed and some of the developers would come back…

He’s talked about the algorithm before, but not in such official terms, since he had the actual document in front of him this time.

I am really tired of YouTube recommending me dumb clickbait, fictional theories and videos involving “what would happen if…” or “this thing vs press/hot ball/etc”.

YouTube keeps on digging its own grave. The best thing that can come out of this is other sites realizing just how bad the state of YouTube is and not copy their mistakes. Im honestly considering going back to newgrounds for my main source of entertainment, which it hasnt been since like 7 years ago.
