I tried going through that live action Jungle Book movie, it was fucking boring.

But this part is true though. In spite of the extremely confusing choice to have King Louie be a giant orangutan in that version and be voiced by Christopher Walken, he was the best part of the movie. Even when Christopher Walken sang I Wanna Be Like You.

Well… that one scene where Mowgli meets Kaa was very nice.
 
Oh Sweet Celestia, was that scene terrifying yet also the sensational, soothing, and mesmerizing tone. The voice actress they pick was outstanding and I actually wish Kaa was in more scenes. Many scenes were admittedly visually stunning, and worked very well for what it seemed they were going for.
 
Oh, and the Trust In Me rendition song by Scarlett Johansson was also a pleasure.

I liked Kaa better when he was silly and cartoony and not a seductive scalie bait that was taken seriously.

Pretty much. Plus, after a… *ahem* …certain movie remake that I will not name, there are now people who will go out of their way to defend and praise every single upcoming remake before it’s even released.

The 80s version of The Thing was a lot better than the 50s one. Though it has been reasonably argued it’s not necessarily a remake but just a much more accurate adaptation of the original source story.

I did say most, not all.

It’s just that I’ve discovered that they’ll be remaking Metropolis as a TV miniseries.

Which, while I’m at it, the 1984 Giorgio Moroder recut was the best version of Metropolis.

The very same. And that kind of bugs me. The original was famed for its groundbreaking practical effects, so remaking it in an era where they will probably just use CGI seems… well, odd.

Some of them just seem unnecessary, like Disney’s live-action remakes of their animated classics with all the exact same songs and everything. Others are downright infuriating. But sometimes you’ll get a good one.

I agree that Disney’s live-action remakes seem unnecessary. However, given the praise Disney’s live-action remakes get both by critics and the general audience, they must be doing something right.
