Gotta say, this cover art is awfully misleading compared to how the confrontation actually went down.
 

 
The cover makes it look like a big one-on-one duel between Thorn and Hooded Rick Allen, but in actuality it went down more like this.
 

Well, that was fast.  

 
I always found it a little weird how Hooded Rick Allen was built up throughout the chapter as being the Big Bad, the boss battle type of figure, yet was so quickly defeated.

Okay, the ending of Bone has always been kinda depressing to me.
 
 
 

 
I mean, it had the big final battle, we wrapped up the loose ends, and all that… but Fone Bone leaving at the end just seemed like a big disappointment after all that they had been through together. It’s just kinda like, “Okay, it’s over, goodbye!” *clip clop, awkward silence*
 
Like, that’s not how you end a big, epic fantasy series. This is how you end a big, epic fantasy series.  

 
I hope this is something they fix in the animated adaptation, because this ending just depresses me.

Now that I’m finished with my reread of Bone, I’d like to ask y’all: Who would you cast to voice the characters in the upcoming Bone Netflix show?
 
I’ll post my ideal voice cast, but I want to hear your thoughts as well.

I’ll start: Jack DeSena as Fone Bone! (Granted, I am biased towards shows he’s voiced in.)

I’m not saying this because I’m a brony, but I think Tara Strong should do Thorn. Using a Raven type voice.

I could see it. Maybe getting more Ravenesque as it goes on, though, since she’s pretty cheery when we first meet her. Thorn was honestly one of the characters I was more clueless on when it came to who should voice her.
 
I could see Rob Paulsen doing well as Phoney Bone, potentially.

Whoever voices her in the Eng. dub should be Granny.

I don’t actually watch that. The thing about Gran’ma Ben is that her VA is going to have to be both convincing as the comedic “badass grandma” character and as the more serious character we get to know her as later.
 
For the Great Red Dragon, they specifically mention in the comic that he has a baritone voice, so I’d have to say someone like Keith David or Erik Todd Dellums.

Oh, for the two stupid, stupid rat creatures, I don’t know about you guys but I personally vote for them to be voiced by a comedy duo. Like Jason Mewes and Kevin Smith, or Kenan Thompson and Kel Mitchell.
 
And yeah, Bone wasn’t exactly a comic that most people read at the time. Though those who did read it seem to have fond memories. I’ve found that a lot of fans have started resurfacing after the announcement of the upcoming Netflix series adaptation.

My 13 year old brain didn’t understand it, but I reread it.

I read it when the color issues started coming out. They were on sale at my school’s book fair, so I bought the first book and found it amazing. I later bought books 3 and 8, and read the entire story using library copies or borrowing issues from friends. As I’ve said, I didn’t grow up with Avatar: The Last Airbender in elementary school but I know I would’ve loved it because of my love for Bone, and how it blended cartoony humor with the serious tension that built over the course of the story.
 
(Though even I admittedly found the ending rather unsatisfying.)

Yeah. A lot later, they were a bunch of paperback edition ones. But they were full color.
