Yeah, DA2 had the best boss fights of a BioWare game, from the giant Rock Wraith to the Arishock, heck the flesh golem and harvester the hardest boss in DA:O got to make an appearance just to warm you up for Saint crazy bitch,

DA 2’s problem isn’t necessarily on the story side. Honestly I congratulate Bioware for doing the opposite of the usual Hero Fantasy story.
 
Its problem were the load of technical issues. Wave after wave of enemies bungee jumping into combat, everyone’s bloated health bars, a cast that’s dysfunctional in a bad way, only like 2 maps reused dozens of times, etc.
 
That’s what happens when your game is rushed out the door in less than a year.

I actually liked the dysfunctional cast. It contributes to the whole tragic hero thing.
 
Since heroes are usually paragons that the cast follows which in turn has them respecting one another, DA2 did the same thing but playing and inverting it by making the hero the only thing stopping the cast from killing each other. You know, like Madoka Magica with magical girls in general.

There’s dysfunctional and then there’s “I really don’t understand why you guys haven’t killed each other already.”
 
DA 2 goes past even that.
 
I mean, I like them too. But seriously they some messed up people.

Plus the fact that they are way deeper than most companions in games with two different relationship paths, one of DA:I’s biggest problems could have easily be solved by having the friendship and rivalry system used for Sera, also having Hawke be the human PC while the player creates a new non human one to be the herald,

No because there is potential there, unlike say Blackwall who was just a waste of money to implement, Sera had allot going for her but they wasted it by making her an unlikable bigoted prick, and not having her even realize it,

maybe a few of the cast are like that but Merrill, Isabela, Varric, have some genuinely amazing chemistry for three very different personalities

Merrill and Isabela are like sisters while Anders traits Merrill with some tough love.  
fenris is so browdy batman is telling him to chill out and Varric rightfully points and laughs at him.
