anyone go back and realize that some comics are a good read when they’re collected and/or you’re much older?

full
back then to me it was a iron man look alike but after getting a hold of some of the comics much, much later, there was more to it than just being a guy in a mech suit.

I think it preceeded captain amazing (Mystery Men movie which preceeded the much more know Tiger & Bunny) in being a corporate shill for a hero.

still missing some of it but the corporate/backstage drama is as big part a of the thrill as the superheroics.

too bad the 90s grimdark is very much apparent in the stories.

related: veteran comic readers(not all of them but a good chuck) don’t like new comic readers to come in because if enuff do they think might they might loose some of there hold on comic industry but at the same time if they don’t expand the tent then they risk industry dieing little fast then expected

that’s a big problem with almost every established fandom.

they don’t want new blood in but they want it to grow. or at least they don’t want kids getting in.

especially if they think the franchise black sheep is the one that got them into the fandom in the first place.

I was more thinking of the prequels. I only gave a good look at the franchise because of the prequels because I was much older then. as a kid the old movies never really clicked with me because at the time that I saw it, Japanese Toku and anime shows like Bioman and shaider already amazed me with their special effects and story.

Darth Vader being Luke’s dad was nothing to the guy who fought his dad and step siblings and didn’t know until the very end.

Same with ‘98 godzilla (the old ones used to scare the f’ out of me as a kid) when I saw it as a teen.

I thought the starkiller games was part of the stuff that got decanonized?

They did and it’s great but i don’t want his fans involved at all, especially not while i have to listen to people still bitching about Rey after all their complaints have been addressed, Starkiller was the proof positive that all it takes took to be a leading character in star wars is being a white dude, unlike other generic white dudes Luke Anakin Kyle and Dash, and eventually the canon versions of Revan and Jaden, he didn’t even have a decent personality let alone a fun and or good one, he was in the lead because he was a white male in his late teens-mid twenties, that’s it, Rham or Marris hell Kazdin would have all made much more interesting heroes in every way story and visually but they got screwd over because scifi loves generic white dudes in the lead role, while the story features as it’s main villains, a bunch of people who are evil because they favor white dudes above everyone else.

related to what I already said: one reason the state of the comic industry is nostalgia is because longtime readers(again not all but around 60%) refuse to embrace change but that’s natural since industry has been nostalgia heavy specially coming out of the 80’s & early 90’s
