I do believe some people are freaking out way too quickly simply because of that episode with Star and Tom… if memory serves as the one I’m thinking of it’s more of a flashback episode.
 
At least I have recollection of an a clip where it introduces how Star and Tom first meet, of their a dance where magic gathered around them as they danced.

For Star, at least what had been shown before the new season, Tom was an old boyfriend that she was no longer interested in.

The creators are playing the season up for Drama. Jackie broke up with Marco btw.

I’m not so much surprised about that latter detail, after Jackie found out that Star had feelings for Marco and with everything which had happened, I’d see her breaking up with Marco so that he could figure things out.

i’m so glad we don’t see much of marco’s two dumbass friends.
