Also, over 80% of the athletes in the 1904 Olympics were from the United States, which was so many that over half of the games held at that Olympics only had US athletes participating.

The 1984 Olympics was a financial for McDonalds, as they held a promotion that would allow customers to win free food whenever the US won a medal.  
This backfired on them, as at first they thoguht the US would not win that many medals, but since the Soviet Boycott got rid of a lot of countires, this lead to the US winning more medals then expected, and cuased more people getting free food.
