At least it’s magic again.

Just got back from seeing Broly and it was a treat. The animation is amazing, the fights are gorgeous and there a nice hint of humor to keep the levity of it all. Pacing is a bit wonky in the last third but otherwise a good solid movie

So unless my math is wrong, at least according to Dragon Ball Super: Broly, Goku is 36

Pretty sure Goku’s in his 40s-50s.
 
Edit: Yep. Thanks to Minus’ retcons Goku was born in Age 736 and the Broly movie takes place in Age 780. That puts him at 44. Vegeta and Broly are both 48.

So Goku then spent eight years in a Saiyan embryonic pod? Because minor Broly spoilers, || parts of the movie takes place 41 years in the past, and Goku isn’t born and Vegeta and Broly are both babies there and then jumps ahead five years to Planet Vegeta’s destruction where Goku is more or less a baby || so someone has the wrong time line

Blame Minus. It retconned Goku from a baby to an infant, itself causing all sorts of problems, and I wouldn’t put it past Toriyama messing up the timeline again with Broly.

The Super Timeline is wonky as hell anyway. I mean it just started with Bulmas Birthday, and of course she said she is younger than she actually she should have been at that point. (Common headcanon, she just lied about her age, like many middle aged woman do.) But than there is the fact that there have been multiple smaller timeskips between the arcs and Goten and Trunks just didn’t age at all. Just look at how Trunks looks at the end of super and then compare it to how he looks at the beginning of the History of Trunks Special, which is canon, because it was also in the manga, and takes place in the same year as the tournament of power.  
Super is just a continuity breaker. Partly because Toriyama is just very forgetful and either doesn’t care about what he did 20 years ago, or just can’t remember it, and is too lazy to look it up and fit it in.  
But it isn’t like that is new behavior. Toriyama always did whatever he liked, changing the rules as he was going, (like in the Buu Saga, changing that the namekian Dragon Balls can now also multi resurrect.) Coming up with new ideas and plot point as he went. The results vary from genius moments to simply very bad writing.  
“In three years two androids will appear, they are called C19 and C20”, upps my editor didn’t like them here have have these twins called 17 and 18, heck I through in 16 as bonus. Too bad my edittor doesn’t like them either, lets see… man that bugs me, !!! giant Bugman. Wait he doesn’t like him either, ok here he will tranform into this batman dude, still not satisfied? Basically this. Toriyama is forgetful and makes things up on the fly. It’s probably best if people don’t look into things too seriously.

I saw the movie yesterday and this is my opinion on it too. I honestly think it’s one of the best Dragon Ball movies. I was very skeptical of them making another movie about Broly because I don’t like OG Broly. But this new Broly has really won himself over with me. I really love him as a character. I’m honestly surprised I liked him this much.
 
I also didn’t expect to cry watching it but I actually cried multiple times watching it.

I should really see the movie. I also need to get the Kai DVD box set.

I think I haven’t seen a Dragon Ball movie in cinema since 2003ish.  
The last two, Battle of Gods and Resurrection F were limited release, and so is this one. Gotta see if it is even playing somewhere near me.

Buying the Kai set is a good idea. I want to do the same but I haven’t gotten around to doing that yet.

Saw the movie last Thursday, and I thought it was a spectacular visual rollercoaster. I really liked SuperBroly and the new characters Cheelai and Lumo. I think it’s unanimous the most funniest scene in the film was Goku and Vegeta passing off Broly to Frieza and he ended up getting wailed on for 1-2 hours.

Broly’s already a big guy but I swear they exaggerated his size even more during the shot of him looming right over Frieza when Goku and Vegeta lured him there. It really selled the moment more.

VIDEL CONFIRMED! YES!

We’re getting a Dragon Ball RPG this year too. It may be open world. I think the cutscenes look really pretty but at the moment, I’m not really all too impressed otherwise. Based on what they’re showing us it’s likely yet again just another game where you play from Raditz to Buu. Plus this didn’t really show much gameplay so, for now, I’m going to withhold some judgment on this. I hope it ends up being good.
