In my case it’s more a general resentment toward the elite - the 1% who attained their wealth by stepping on other people and buy rides worth more than my house just to keep them in a garage.
Is it just me, or is Oldsmobile the only affordable American make I never hear people complaining about? I’ve seen my fair share of “shitty Ford” “shitty Chevy” “shitty Dodge” or “shitty Pontiac” comments, but I’ve never seen people complain about Olds.

Probably because Oldsmobile doesn’t exist anymore. That said, the parent company of Olds was GM, and GM has been criticized frequently, especially in recent years, for a gradual decline in quality.
Pontiac doesn’t exist anymore either but Calypso has seen “Shitty Pontiac” comments. Olds just seems like an old brand that didn’t have many negatives except that stupid 5.7 Diesel that might have been horribly designed by bean counters.
How do you make an 8 cylinder Diesel have less power and less reliability than a 6 cylinder Gas engine? You give the project to 1970s GM.

My Oldsmobile was truly amazing. 3.4 V6 never had any issues besides ABS sensor and the computer security system. The reason nobody complains is due to the car brand’s honesty. It isn’t pretending to be something it is not. Slightly stylish, slightly cheap. It’s the perfect middle road
I know a guy with a black Oldsmobile Intrigue. I appreciate the car’s clean look. It doesn’t have weird angles, a huge gaping maw, short windows, or any of the other bad current design trends. It’s just a good regular car.
