I don’t think it’s oversaturated (yet) because there is still a lack of a “perfect” choice for everyone. that’s what is so problematic for carmakers. the consumer can’t decide what he/she wants so there are tons of options that basically look the same

Huh. I’m not overly familiar with Porsche cars (shocking?) so might I please see a Porsche that’s significantly influenced by Tatra? I didn’t know Tatra is still a working company, I’d heard about them from this site prior to this (from the image below) but since they’re not local it makes sense.

I like this T97, the rear wheel skirting too; not only does it give the car a more streamline look, mileage on the highway is increased from the increased aerodynamics.

…………….

On another subject who here likes watching ChrisFix? I took his advice on restoring headlights and taillights, it worked perfectly most of the time. (I feel like I painted the 2nd coat of the last set too quickly.) Taking his advice from the “How to Superclean your Car” video, that worked amazingly as well. Only thing is it took nearly a month for me to finish simply because it probably never saw a clay bar before and I had to do like 80-120 passes over many a stubborn spot. If only I had what’s called a “Clay Disc” (attaches to a dual action polisher) for the whole operation it would have taken MUCH less time.

yeah I watch a bunch of his videos. it would’ve saved my butt one time when I had to call a tow truck. (hitting your starter with a hammer if the car won’t start)

so the headlight fix does work? I’ve been meaning to do that with my car’s headlights. they suck… I just don’t wanna buy three different grits of sandpaper. kinda wanna just do one grit, but it won’t work as well.

I know what that can be like. My parents had a 1985 Jaguar XJ6 and a 1995 Plymouth Voyager, both had problems with starting. I think the Jaguar had a messed up flywheel. As for the Voyager I don’t recall all the details, we parked in a flea market around 10:30 AM and left at 8 PM.

I’ve done the headlight and taillight restoration on three cars (maybe only working on the headlights for the last one talked about here.) It worked amazingly on a red Caravan which had incredibly yellow headlights, made a difference to the Suburban both for the head and taillights and a minor difference for the other Caravan but that one lost the timing belt shortly after. I feel as if I messed up spraying the second coat for the last van.

@RainbowDash69

Oh gosh, I haven’t supercleaned the Suburban yet though it’s planned. I was working on a 1984 Chevrolet Caprice Classic 4-Door Sedan. (and yes it has the 305 engine, people keep telling me it’s an amazingly durable engine.) Its finish probably never saw a clay bar in its whole life until I started, clay bars have only been around since the 1980s and weren’t always as commonly used. I compounded it once I was done claying. After waxing, when pumping fuel someone asked me “Is that the original finish?” so Chris’ video works nicely. I wouldn’t use a clay disc for each situation though, for this one I ended up compounding (which is more abrasive than polishing) anyway so it was fine as I “took scratches out” once I was done claying.

Someone commissioned it.

It’s funny IMO but I was told not to tag like that by a mod. (No, I didn’t put those ones there.)

I’d figure it counts as much as a modern concept car, but I was mainly just trying to point out the front wheel pods’ similarity. Like you said, that idea has been around for a long time.

Plus, I thought the similar colors were kind of a funny coincidence.

I’ve see one a couple times down the street near where I work. Pretty strange to see such a small car. Is it a car? Or a three wheeled motorcycle?

Speaking of three wheel cars.

What was the point of these three wheeled vehicles that tip over easily?
Yeah, like that Reliant Robin that Mr. Bean famously kept bullying.

I think the point is similar to the Festiva. Make it cheap and make it efficient, because thats all some people care about. The fact that the Wildfire had climate control is something I did not expect though.

Wait, you’ve seen one of those on the road? Like, in private ownership? That’s a very rare bird; last I heard Elio has only released 100 “test models” so far. I did get to see one of their prototypes up close a while back, it seemed like it ought to be a great little commuter, assuming the company can ever get into decent volume production.

Legally, a three wheeled vehicle is considered a motorcycle in the US, and that’s generally the point of them. The Reliant Robin, for example, was designed as a 3-wheeled “motorcycle” so that it would be treated differently (more cheaply) for tax and licenseing purposes.

Elio is a little weird about that, though. They’ve spent a considerable amount of time getting most (or possibly all, by now) of the states to consider the Elio a “cyclecar” or “autocycle” or something similar. That way, it can be operated without a motorcycle license (so Elio can sell to more people) and without a helmet (Elio says that wearing one would actually be more dangerous). But, since it’s federally still not a “car,” they get to adhere to motorcycle standards, instead of the stricter car standards.

The only reason I can think of to put the single wheel in the front is if you really want to keep the back wheel from intruding into the cabin. I’d take the Elio’s compromised trunk and good stability over the Robin’s large trunk and instability any day, though.
