Because they’re built on pickup-truck frames.
 
That’s also another reason the big three make so many SUV’s - they’re extremely cheap to build.

Cheap to build and very expensive to buy. Basic full size SUVs like the Tahoe aren’t worth what they sell for.

Second and third gen Tahoes are pretty nice, those vortec motors are something else.
 
if I had to choose between that or an explorer id take the tahoe any day. Also police Tahoes are sexy as fuck.

I’m currently looking at getting a second generation Subaru Outback or Forester. And with a budget of $3,000 I think I can find a really nice one.
 
-Automatic trans (I prefer it over manual. Lynch me.)  
-AWD (Michigan winters)  
-Cheaper insurance because family wagon/SUV  
-Good mileage
 
What is literally not to like. I’m also considering a Volvo Wagon, they have the same appeal as Subies to me.

They will have high miles. They hold their value really well. Look out for Forester that burns oil. i read online it is common for some years. Carcomplaints.com

There is more outbacks for sale here than foresters, probably gonna get one of those.
 
The lowest mileage I’ve seen in my price range is 170,000.

I was having a nice day at the races until a big storm blew in and I had to leave. There was a wide variety of cars: pre-WWII, vintage Porsches, BMWs, and Corvettes, British roadsters, and several types of race cars I can’t put a name to.

My reaction is mixed. It’s an awkward looking car and I don’t like the shifter design or flying buttress of buttons. On the other hand, a mid engine supercar for only $60k is kind of amazing.

I saw videos of this version of the 2020 Corvette stating that it’s the 2020 Corvette Stingray with a 495 horsepower V8 engine behind the seats, the engine is mounted under glass and designed to be seen, and it go from 0 to 60 miles per hour in under 3 seconds.
 
Personally, my favorite Corvette is the C3 version, made from 1968 to 1982.

Mid-engine is an unusual move for GM, but an interesting one.
 
And apparently it’s a move that’s been almost 60 years in the making.

I don’t really understand why people think this looks like a Ferrari, I can’t see it. Ferrari’s have more graceful lines in my opinion.
 
Also, if I wanted a mid-engined American car I’d have a Fiero.

What I’m saying about SUVs having always more ground clearance than cars is a bit different than what you think.
 
The thing is, why do vehicles with high ground clearance also have high roofs?
 
You could perfectly build a car-like-vehicle with good ground clearance and the added benefit of a lower center of gravity.
 
Yes, markets and shit but why not.
