Sent Carcer my resume, no answer. A few months later Joey-H3 updated the “want to help” post so I asked again, and got a trial as an assistant, and did what I could to make myself useful and to help the site.
[edit: And like others have described got invited to and kicked from rooms I didn’t even know existed]
Then one day something horrible needed doing that no one wanted to touch because it was so horrible, so I volunteered and Mike Rowe’d my way through it, and because you had to be a mod to do it I ended up a mod.
Now I basically do that thing for the site, whenever it needs doing, which is about once or twice a week.
Most of the staff have a thing that they mostly do, with a lot of cross-training - like I said before, it takes all of us to do it once, but there’s enough cross training that no one person is the only one for any thing.

It doesn’t really seem like that many, but sometimes it seems very much like that many.
Weekends, holidays, and when there’s new episodes that number goes WAY, way up. But it doesn’t seem to ever go down.
Just as a snapshot, in the last 24 hours there have been 39 reports. Right now there’s one report from 5 days ago that is still being worked on, I’ve got one from 2 days ago that I’m still talking with people about how to handle, and there’s 2 about two separate issues from a day ago that someone is still working on, and 5 from today that someone has already claimed and is working.
It doesn’t feel like that many - when we work as a team we can get through most of them pretty fast.
