I just get mad when people act like ‘MLP’ is only the past 8ish years and ignore the legacy of the series, even unintentionally. I try to always specify FiM or G4 if I do that.

If you were a Jedi Knight, which era of the Star Wars universe would you want to be in?  
For example: the KOTOR era (about 4,000 years before the Battle of Yavin), the Clone Wars era (the prequel trilogy), the Galactic Civil War between the Empire and the Alliance to Restore the Republic (the original trilogy), or between the fall of the Empire and the rise of the First Order (the sequel trilogy), or perhaps another era of Star Wars I’m probably not aware of?

Starting to? I was never under the pressure as a kid to watch ‘girly’ things, nor did I ever care about if what I was watching was aimed towards anyone.

I don’t really care if you were joking or not, I just wanted to clarify about that term, since “meme” is pretty overused. I guess I got into The Selfish Gene a bit too much.
 
I enjoyed all MLP show generations except G2 since it didn’t have a show from what I remember.

I was referring it in a more general sense. Have you ever heard of the mindset “All animation is Disney”?, where the belief is that cartoons are supposed to be kids and only for kids? This also applies to shows specifically targeted to a certain gender: shows like GI Joe and Transformers were created to appeal to boys while Care Bears and even My Little Pony for girls. This belief was almost universally accepted by the general audience until recently when the mold started to break and the mainstream now accept that any piece of work can be enjoyed by anyone regardless of who they are and what they have in their pants.

As opposed to those unofficial bootlegs, those have flawless quality.
 
Look, I get the point, but the fact being that G1 at it’s core was a fantastic toyline that’s still collected to this day. So are all the other gens, of course, but but G1 usually stands out in terms of quality and variety. ‘Character’ means nothing in a toyline with hundreds of unique designs, whereas G4 has degraded over time into a million mane 6 releases and like barely any new characters. And by ‘new’ I don’t mean generic background ponies.
