They also existed in G3, though they were just tiny ponies with butterfly wings back then.

I do. Jolee Ane is her name. She’s a Poitu Donkey from Prance (the real breed is actually French so it felt rather fitting that I make her from an MLP equivilant of France). She eventually moved to Equestria when she was older, fell in love with a Zebra OC of mine named Zikomo, and eventually the two of them had a Zonkey filly/jenny named Zawadi.
 
Zikomo is a Mountain Zebra and quite a lot of Donkeys were bred and raised for climbing mountains. So with that being said, the two of them have a house up in the mountains. They both have a job acting as Tour Guides and Mountain Guides so they often help others travel through the mountains.

And yep. They’re one of three different types of Zebra. The type of Zebra most people are familiar with are the Common Zebra (also known as the Plains Zebra, since they live in the plains). The second type of Zebra are Grevy’s Zebra and one of the ways you can tell them apart from other Zebra is that they don’t have stripes on their bellys and on the base of their tails. And the third are Mountain Zebras, which also don’t have stripes on their bellys and they have a dewlap on their necks. Unlike the other two types of Zebra, they live up in the hills and mountains(obviously) and their herds tend to be much smaller.
