Cats and dogs have more rods and less cones in their retinas, among other differences.
A very dumbed-down summary of cat sight vs. human sight:
• A cat can see “clearly” in the dark with about 1/6 as much light as a human needs. (However, the image will look like a blurry black and white photograph.)
• A cat’s field of vision is about 200°, while a human’s is about 180°.
• Cats are severely near-sighted (20/100 to 20/200).
• Cats have mild red/green color-blindness.
• The entire image will appear slightly washed out towards mid-light grey. The effect is similar to the appearance of grainy old films.
