Late reply, but I also think it’s because you can turn the downvote button into a “hide this image” button with complex filters and the my:downvotes thing. Downvotes on my pics spiked around the time that feature was added.

Yeaaaah … I’m not a fan of that behavior. It’s in my “Let’s talk about doing something about this someday” bucket.

I’m all for such an easy way to hide images you don’t like, but yeah it does kind of suck that it also hurts the score of an image :(

You can’t know what people think when they subscribe and downvote something.  
You just see what they did.  
Not why they did it.

Personally I’m okay with downvotes. It let artist know how people react to pic.

Same here, but that’s not the point of downvotes, y’know? To me it would be like if watching a tag also auto-faved every image under it, right? Like, I’m okay with downvotes, and I’m really in favor of an easy means to hide images, but they shouldn’t be together y’know?

Like, if there was a button that added “ID:XXXX” to your complex filter the way you can one-click to hide a tag, it would be the best thing ever :D

So I recently realized my initial idea was a horror of a task to complete, so I’m going in a totally new direction. Almost done too. It should be up today actually.

Well, I did my part for the event.
