Anyway, it’s unnecessary to change your artist name. I get how you feel, you put effort into a piece and suddenly you get one downvote (from someone who won’t comment, no less) that tarnishes your score but you shouldn’t let that discourage or be a reason change your artist name. If you look at the images that are featured (some of the best pictures) on the site, most of them have at least one downvote but there’s plenty of upvotes/faves that make up for it. You’re a good artist, Serenity. Don’t worry about whoever is doing that, just focus on your skills and keep on improving.

I had the same problem at one point. No matter what I uploaded, you could guarantee it would get 1-2 downvotes as soon as I uploaded it. And that’d be it. No more downvotes after that.  
Just assume there’s one user that just thinks it’s funny and dismiss it as such.

I think I overshot the mark a bit.  

I basically only ever draw OCs, so my stuff is bound to get DVs no matter what. Seriously you guys, try to stop thinking about scores. Low score? No big deal. All sorts of things that have nothing to do with whether the pic is any good make people vote one way or another. High score? Nice, but not a divine sign of what you should do in all your new art. You can’t please everyone anyway, and stressing over scores can seriously ruin your mood for making art. Just draw for yourself (or for a specific person, as in gift aft), you can be sure you made at least one person’s day better.

I’ve got a few that have avoided the black mark against them.
 
It’s just a minor thing. Wouldn’t worry about it.
 
Like you said, images get downvoted for various reasons.  
The viewer may genuinely not like what they see.  
Other factors may be wrong character, not doing something they like, comic strips, (always voted for on content rather than art talent), or a dozen other reasons.  
(A recent one of mine with Sonata cuddling Aria Blaze got hit with a couple of downvotes because they were ponified).

Most of my recent pics seem to have avoided the single downvote scourge. Could have something to do with the time i upload them. Guess the guy is sleeping then :V
 
But besides that side note, saby is absolutely right. Score schmore.

I also tried to make a more fancy background than my previous stuff.

Not quite sure what to do with the new “Commissions option” here.
 
I wouldn’t charge for my own artwork (really don’t think I’m anywhere near good enough for that), but I would take requests. (And have done in the past). Should I just put that in the “Commission information” section?
 
As for my latest upload, I now have a new lowest-scoring image under the “40kponyguy is trying to murder us” tag.  
Little disappointed with that, but it’s not a bad score on it.

A few guys have $0 set as their price range. Just go for that and like close it if you get swamped in requests :)
 
Though seriously, you gotta not sell yourself short. It’s not about “I’m good enough to sell commissions”, it’s about “People are willing to pay me to draw their stuff” :D
 
And seriously, don’t take score too heavily. It’s like a necessity of my, ahem, style that I get quite a few downvotes XD

Heck, I’d be willin to pay for something from ya, so you got at least one customer!
 
But if you still want: The commissions form does allow you to select “requests” as one of the categories you’re willing to draw. And you can set the price as 0$. There are already a couple of artists who have done do.

hey, at least getting downvotes means people saw your stuff, think of it that way. ;P

Its just a few downvotes, nothing worth getting upset or changing your artist tag over. No matter what you or anyone posts there will always be at least one or two people who downvote it. Nice linework btw.

I appreciate it, and yea I guess I should not get too upset. I wouldn’t mind if it was every once in a while but this is becoming a regular thing, so I thought the person who was doing it just generally doesn’t like me =/

Okay, I’m considering having a go at drawing an OC pic next as a bit of a gap filler.
 
Not fully decided which OC to use yet, but I can disclose I’m looking at other artists in this thread, and it’ll be their OC. I’m just hoping I don’t disappoint their owner.

I’d say white, but she’s an outdoor girl, so she’s going to have caught a tan at least.

That and the rainbow hair looks odd on a dark skinned version.

IMO rainbow hair looks way better on dark skin, whether chocolate or caramel or olive.
 
Also I’m bored of seeing white RD… and sick of hatevoters putting down humanizations they think are somehow wrong.

You could probably make it work either way, but in my headcannon she’s a white tomboy/athletic type.
