I have a question that is TOTALLY HYPOTHETICAL I SWEAR.
What do you think it takes to become a popular artist within the mlp community?
So basically I want to know all your opinions on how to get well known. Besides porn.

I would like to know why people want so badly to be a popular artist. Why is it such a thing? I mean, why don’t you just enjoy drawing for yourself and others whatever happens? I don’t see what being popular can bring to you, you don’t need to be popular to have friends and people who like your art. And I think being a horse famous is a really random thing. It’s not a recipe you follow and then you have your cake, you can do all the people tells you to do and not getting popular, and do nothing and being popular because logic. It’s my personal opinion but I think people would stop to be obsessed about popularity and just enjoy creating and being part of the fandom.

Being popular gives one satisfaction, and makes a person feel accomplished. It can also motivate us when we see others catch wind of our works. Of course, not everyone feels this way and that’s okay. There’s nothing wrong in wanting to be noticed as an artist. Just don’t let it get to the point where making art isn’t fun, and becomes a bother to do.

As for the answers on getting noticed, it’s all about trial and error and perseverance. It takes time to build up an audience. Experiment and find what works for you.

I’m not desperate to be popular but I think of it as…a self improvement challenge!

Also nobody would put their art up anywhere if they didn’t want it to be noticed.

In my opinion, “being noticed” and “being popular” isn’t the same thing. Many artists get noticed, but a few get popular (like Tsitra, Jonh Joseco, Atryl, etc…). Reasons are quite randm I think. But while being noticed can be a good thing, being popular can bring some personnal life issues, have tons of messages/ deviantart notes a day, deal with some drama because you’re popular so people can stalk you… Some people can deal with thoses bad things but some others can’t.
I for myself am an artist, but am not and don’t want to be popular because I know I can’t handle popularity, I’m shy, quiet and antisocial… But while people don’t know my name, Some of my art got notices a couple years ago and I’ve always spent good times in selling my art in convention. This kind of “popularity” is good I think, enough to get a bit noticed but most of people doesn’t know you, so you can live your life without troubles.

I think in the vector of Dashie in the eyelashes of the left eye you had a little layering mistake.

But heh, glad that my juxtaposition was enough cute to make you decide to vectorize it!
