Because they hadn’t found their footing with the EqG concept yet, and wouldn’t until Rainbow Rocks and the shorts that went with it.
 
Still, as far as as high concept goes, “Greease as an Urban Fantasy” strikes me as having potential. You take that ball, sir, and you run with it.

God dammit, why wasn’t EQG1 like Grease as an Urban Fantasy? That would have been KICKASS!

I go with the “it’s her girlfriends jacket” thing (even if there is “flashlight” in the tags). .3.

I’d love to join in the Flashlight bickering, but all I can think about is the last scene of “Grease”.

I suggest you take a look at some of Flashlighthouse or dm29’s work.

You know, when I saw the first EqG movie, I was intrigued by the potential of Flashlight, both in human AND pony forms. However, in Rainbow Rocks, I was turned off from the pairing, when they wasted the opportunity to further develop Flash as a character. Seriously, he spent most of the movie under the Dazzlings’ influence! That was my only problem with the movie–well, THAT, and RD being an unlikable bitch (and NOT the kind of unlikable bitch that people like ironically).
