Description

I chose to make him human, because his dragon state is already very anthropomorphic. For this reason I could see the show staff make him human as well, like they did with the diamond dogs. We know Spike becomes a dog when going through the portal, hinting that all those who are dragons in the world of Equestria are dogs in the world of Canterlot High, but as of now it has not been established as a fact.

Anyway, since I like to believe Garble’s father is a warrior, I picture his human equivalent as a highly skilled military man who is often deployed.

The dad in the photo reminds me of the General from the Iron Giant. Probably just because of the stern military stereotype visual, tho…

His lackeys are mostly faithful to him, not the other way around, though he doesn’t necessarily view himself as ‘better’ than them. He has a comradery going on with the other misfits. He still has an awful temper, especially when he isn’t in control of the situation.

Dad is an experienced hard-ass that gets things done. This is why he’s so often deployed. He doesn’t retire until he’s shot in the leg as a middle aged man, because he firmly believes that when there’s a job to be done, the best man should be on that job; in other words, him.
Mom is a busy, high-ranking local government employee. So there isn’t always somebody around to lay down the law. This proves to be quite problematic given Garble’s inclination towards aggression and violent solutions to his problems, because he doesn’t talk about them.
Garble typically doesn’t come home with bad grades – he wouldn’t dare – but he does have problems with regular education in general, which he believes to be a waste of time, in addition to the aforementioned behavioral problems, the random musical numbers and horse magic. The only class he thoroughly enjoys is PE, where he gets a lot of his pent up rage out of his system.
He eventually just gives up on high school, gets his GED and joins the air force like his father. His right-winged parents wholeheartedly support this decision to drop out of what they call “Hippie High”. The only teacher they respected was Cranky Doodle.

I imagine that as he’s there on the bed watching TV, with the photo of his dad facing the TV too, his phone rings. When he answers it’s one of his buddies on the phone, they ask him what he’s doing and his response is, “Nothing much, just watching TV with dad.”
