Someone actually attempted to superimpose both maps, using the cities I previously mentioned as reference points.  
Aside from the fact that it significantly deforms the map (the West Coast being stretched longer than the East) and is obviously not a perfect fit (the Neighagra Falls are in the middle of the Great Lakes and I think the Haysead Swamps were supposed to be Florida but as it is displayed, the map of Equestria doesn’t cover the Gulf of Mexico), it nonetheless shows some interesting things (like Canterlot being at the location of Minneapolis-St Paul, Ponyville being where Omaha would be and Appleloosa instead of Little Rock).  
Not sure about which conclusions to draw from this though. Any further analysis is welcome.

Well, yes, nopony, not even the staff, seems entirely certain how wide Equestria is. I’d hazard nopony dwells on it longer than I do. Which is around ten seconds at a time. However, I admit the thing about the S02 map that most interests me is the fact that my home state, the entire state of California sank and Neo Hollywood and Neo Disneyland are now located in or near Neo Vegas. XD

I think his comment about Canterlot being located where Kansas would be refers to this map that has been canon since season 4 at the very least (although, to be honest, it is quite possible that such a stylized map may not be to scale - cartoon, remember?).

I doubt my comment or even most of the comments I make have any connectivity. I generally assume the people on boards I’m on know what I’m indirectly referring to. Like if I make a Last Crusade joke, the image I’m on is one of Jesus, and I’m replying to a thread discussing Catholicism. Most of the time, people will acknowledge the thing or things I alluded to. Unless the person I’m replying to is a legend amongst the crusade against learning, there’s a marginal sense everypony is on the same page. However, I’m perfectly aware Earth Theory will have no ultimate resolution because horse-humanoids in an alternate reality most similar to real life American suburbia have since been introduced. I apologize for… I’ve sort of forgotten. The argument this thread concerns is largely uninteresting, not just because I’m watching Turtles ’12 at time of writing. XD
 
However, if I have unintentionally insulted Kansas, DC, Middle America, Mountain America, Rural America, The American South, or NASCAR, I do apologize for reals. :3

The locations of Equestrian cities on the map match their American counterparts (Manehattan, Fillydelphia and Baltimare on the East coast, Vanhoover, Tall Tale and Los Pegasus on the West coast).
