Ironically, most glaring examples of “abusing his power” in fact didn’t have any lasting consequences, only the ones from time before it’s started getting in his head. (Though, pipes could’ve fixed when he meet Plumbing Pony for second time. Then again, fixing it also mean Mission Fail.)

Spike woudn’t look like an ass in this episode if that entire montage if him abusing his power wasn’t there.
 
After all people can argue that keeping your friend and family member well rested is more important than petty matters of cutting down trees or dealing with slightly damaged pipe (no one would think that such small problems would cause a freaking tsunami) So his deed would be noble since he was doing it all for Twilight even if it was bad. Same with Discord trying to remove Tree Hugger when he thought that his friendship with Fluttershy is in jeopardy. If Discord’s fear were correct, then you could argue that ponies deserved this mess since none of mane6, (Fluttershy included) never cared for him if that was true.
 
However just like Discord was in the wrong because he was delusional and paranoid, also Spike was in the wrong because he gave in to the corruption of power and “tried make himself feel good” just like he said in the ending message of the episode. So there shoudn’t be any debate if Spike or Discord were right because they weren’t

Hm, that’s a possibility. Another variant: order Canterlot’s magician to cast silencing spell on Twilight’s room, and handle delegates in same way as in episode. Then we have intact disasterless summit and only minorly disgruntled delegates.  
(But given episode’s nature, most likely Universe will still find a way to screw Spike)

I don’t usually see Twilight as “princess of mary sue” like some others, but goddamn was she completely innocent and Spike took all the everything in this episode for no reason.

He should tell Cadance or told them to bother Cadance or at least Celestia since she’s the ruler of Canterlot. If anything, Twilight should be responsible for matters concerning Ponyville. Twilight was not capable of performing her duties, however Spike should not take the responsibility himself if he have no competence nor experience in managing or ruling

I have one little question. HOW THE BUCK HE WAS SUPPOSED TO ACT? It was a lose-lose situation from very beginning. Let them disturb Twilight — he will fail because Twilight will wake up. Not let them disturb Twilight — he will still fail because of disaster made of impossible decisions.

Is this going to be worse episode than Appleoosa most wanted? I really hope not. But i noticed that no one is hyped for this episode. Too many burns with Spike episodes to feel excited
