Tirek was a villain that had to be overcome. Sombra was a looming threat that had to be preemptively stopped. They didn’t play comparable roles.

You guys gotta remember that anything in the comics can be deemed noncanon at any time by the show staff. We could end up getting completely different origin stories in the show. Not that I think that will ever happen. I’m just saying that whether one is more developed than the other depends more on the show than the comic. The comic is more like semicanon in that sense. For now, though, I think that whichever one is more developed is more so based on perception.

Smolder is a cutie
If we’re talking strictly on the show, Tirek is a much better villain than Sombra IMO, which one of them is more “interesting” as a villain is quite arguable, but Tirek did a hell of a lot more and had a far greater impact than Sombra ever did, in the show.
 
Can’t comment on the comics tho.

I liked the Tirek comic and I thought it was good. The illistrations and a bit of the storyline but I don’t see enough of his backstory. The comic seemed too short to me. :/

Sombra Comic = A young orphan of unknown origin who despite his differences had an initial want to fit in and become a good pony and learned at least a tiny bit of empathy before finally succumbing to the darkness which spawned him.
 
Tirek Comic = Im handsome and don’t like my dad, so I’m allowed to be a dick.
