I don’t have any negative scoring uploads yet, so I must be doing something right.
Ya, you have to be a real pain in some way to the mods and users to get the duck badge.
If you just slip up at times then you will not get it, you have to actively do what people find annoying.
I would hope that’s the same reason I didn’t get a badge, too.

And well-deserved badge; Warhammer models are a hard canvas to paint on.
I had uploaded well over 100 images of stuff with my own artist tag before I got noticed as an artist here.
Admittedly a lot of my canvasses were wargaming models but it’s still pictures of ponies.
And I think there are even one or two with the duck badge that never got bans.
It’s just just getting the bans, it’s also how they act about it and for what reasons they got the bans.
I got a few bans but as it was just me being kind of stupid at the time and respected the mods and learned from what happened I don’t get a duck badge.
I’ve been banned 5 or 6 times and I haven’t gotten a duck badge. Not complaining, just wanted to point that out. If badges were awarded for 2-3 bans, I think there would be a lot more of them out there.
It’s “awarded” to users that have received a ban for whatever reason.
I think you need to have been banned 2-3 times to get it though.
One user (Username Pikapetey (I think)), has a unique King Duck Badge.
There’s a thread in the Site and Policy forums section here that he’s commented on- funnily enough about the badges.

Posting too many irrelevant comments is likely to get you a temporary ban.
Although that could itself net you a duck badge.

The badges are awarded if you get noticed by a relevant administrator here.
I only recently got the artist badge because I asked for it in the comments section of a featured image, then linked to my own artwork to show why I wanted it.
There is a badge for R34 stuff, if you upload enough high scoring ones.
There’s lots of badges, and many aren’t obvious as to how to get them.
I only know of around a dozen or so of them.
