I can get away with having my glasses essentially on the other side of the room. Mind you, this is when sleeping; other than sleeping or showering, my glasses are pretty much on all the time.
Well I own binoculars, and they actually have a case with a strap, so they might have some sort of perch… like a nail in the wall.
But no one moves their glasses to an area that’s not directly beside the bed; they learn not to at an early age from cracking their shins on the end of the bed.
Civilized people often have a special case for their eyewear, which they keep in a designated spot such as a shelf or the top drawer of a dresser. (This may not apply to goggles.)

Point taken, but there’s gotta be a place to put the glasses in order to justify their existence in that room. Floor may be the only other option, if there’s no bedside table.
Just so you know, Shimmering and I wind up in these all the time, and the ridiculousness is generally at least half the point.

I’m just saying, a non-present table can’t have anything put on it, including glasses. Or sunglasses. Or goggles, which I thought they were the first time, probably due to watching too much Digimon earlier in life.
