Yes but some of the times the comics do not follow ZUN’s instructions very well. For instance, there are scenes where Lily Black is shown to be a separate character from Lily White, and there are debates about if comics such as Inaba of the Moon and Inaba of the Earth are canon. ZUN may be more involved in the comics of Touhou than DHX and Hasbro are with IDW’s comics, but there are some who like to debate from what I’ve seen anyway.

ZUN is very involved with the official Touhou manga.

That Touhou anime is not official but fan-made, created by Manpuku Jinja and Yuuhei Satellite, who are just fans of the Touhou series. ZUN, the creator of Touhou, said that there will never be an official anime because it would detract people from playing his games. That being said, why people say that MLP:FiM is not a game is because the official games related to MLP:FiM have no major story to attach to the canon. People will say that there are official Touhou and MLP:FiM comics, but both series of comics are so disconnected from the original creator and the original creation’s contents that people say that those are not canon either.
 
So, Touhou is a game and MLP:FiM is a show because the majority of canon lies in those areas. There is no official Touhou show, though there are several well-made fanimations.

And like MLP, there are some males that are given a name in Touhou. But they never appear in the game, I know one appeared in the manga.

Not really, but it’s not a feminist power’s fantasy. I think ZUN has stated that the cast is just so happenly to be mostly girls, and that Gensokyo, the pocket world Touhou takes place in, has a more typical population ratio between male and females, both human and youkai (any supernatural creature is categorized under youkai). Though, this has not stopped the fandom, and by god, they’re persistent… The amount of shipping is ENORMOUS. Marisa alone is shipped to everyone like Rainbow Dash is to everypony in Equestria.

Is it bad that I ‘STILL’ have absolutely no clue about what ‘Touhou’ really ‘is’ other than some bullet hell game somewhere with lots of little girls with enough firepower to just scream ‘feminist power fantasy’?

30. I’m not sure. Original was an encoded stream of JPGs with ms offset of 27-35, inconsistent. I opted to go with 30 as average. Image lost part of the “swing” momentum in Patchy’s arm movement as a result, but I couldn’t get the right ms. offsets in my gif editor =/
