I was talking AFL lol.
Now I do know that the hits in grid iron are much harder. That said I remember my American/Aussie teacher offering some of his Yank mates a game of footy and they said “no way! You haven’t got pads!.”
He grid iron-tackled some of the footy players and they just said “I see why you blokes wear pads!”

Used to wonder why it’s called Superbowl when there’s no bowling involved.
No man can survive a whole American football match without the gear, period. It’s a sport made of actions that don’t usually last more than 10 seconds, and players have all the time to rest, so they can go at 100% power when the game restarts.
On the other hand, no American football player can last half of a rugby match, because there’s no friggin’ time to rest! Rugby players are used to save their energy, because the sport is way more demanding.
Not that it has anything to do whatever with such insanely appealing artwork. Ponies can play whatever games they enjoy, and those of you who don’t approve can just suck it up and deal with it.
Great, and we were discussing about a game that’s played in just one country XD

World Series was named as such back in the late 19th century and it was named various titles such as “Championship Series” and World Championship Series. At first, yes it was a misnomer, but seeing as how many people from all over the world get visas just to play in the Majors and MLB is always in contact with the other oversea governing bodies of baseball, it far less of a misnomer today than it was back then.
Besides if you want a real “World Series”, you have the World Baseball Classic.
It’s just a grandiose-sounding name to signify that it’s an important series of games. No one thinks it actually means you’re a world champion.

Still don’t get grid iron but I suppose that’s because I’m Aussie; Americans see big tough guys smashin’ each other it, we see pansies that have to wear padding so they don’t go home cryin’ to Momma.
No, baseball has the World Series (which, yes, only includes US teams. And the Toronto Blue Jays.) American football championships usualy have a “Bowl” in the name. The Super Bowl is the professional league one, with the Pro Bowl acting as an all-star game. At the college level there’s events like the Rose Bowl, the Sugar Bowl, the Aloha Bowl, and quite a few [name of sponsor] Bowls.
How many of those were from outside the US?
Hurr durr, fat americans and football, yada yada. Look at how witty you are. As I sit here hunched over my triple heart-stopper burger riding on my motorized scooter and firing my guns wildly into the air, because that’s what Americans do, apparently, I can’t help but think about how wrong you are.
The raw numbers say the super bowl is a big deal. 114 million people watched it earlier this week, a new viewership record. The World Cup is more popular, of course, but the super bowl pulls in a big damn crowd. You can’t discount the enormous hype-train that precedes it.

I dunno, the superbowl is watched by more people than any other event besides the world cup. I think a lot of people care. Or are at least entertained.
Meanwhile, the rest of the world doesn’t care.
