Yeah, I guess it’d be better not to get into the “Sonic drama.”  
I admit, I don’t love every one of his games, but I feel he still has some good games, and I still like Sonic, even though I’m not as into sonic as I used to be.

I really wish people would stop asking that damn question, it’s at the point that the same thing is said over and over, there is no one answer as to why, there are a large number of possible reason but we can’t know un;ess they all make a comment telling us their reason and it’s just like asking why so mnay people don’t like MLP.  
Let’s just leave it at that don’t and as long as they don’t make a big deal over it we shouldn’t care….

Same reason many people online I do, I guess. Due to Sonic’s recent “hit, or miss” games in the past 12 years, and some feeling he’s an “outdated/has-been” game character, it’s kinda become a bit “trendy/cool” to hate-on Sonic, and such. Some love his games, some hate them. He’s gotten a bit more controversial then any other game character with people online.  
Even some old-school Sonic fans hate him, and automatically hate any new game that comes out. (Even when it’s a decent game like “Sonic Colors.”)
 
Doesn’t help, the recent “Sonic Boom” WiiU game was quite unfinished further increasing that hate…  
Still, at least the 3DS version was “ok,” and the TV show has some funny/amusing moments.

The image looks kinda traced,  
and lastly because half of Derpibooru hates the blue blur with a passion. Just seeing Sonic is enough to piss some gamers/nerds off, and such.
 
Y’know, kinda like those people who get pissed if they see one pony pic turn up in their Google image results. ;)
