This scenario is where Twilight and the others don’t get the potential to be elements. For all we know, Human Twilight has just as much potential, if not more due to her independence, to be an Element of Magic(Spark of Hope or whatever was the moral metaphor for Magic).
 
Additionally Human Twilight has the advantage of working in a world where science equals science.
 
Non-Element of Magic Twilight doesn’t have that advantage. Science is magic science, which might not be where her studious nature leads her without the magic boost, the cutie mark, and celestia.
