I would like to point out that both Cadance and Blueblood (I think) are adoptive family (Though I’m not entirely sure on the latter’s case, I could be wrong). Aside from that, still part of the same family.

Okay, so Twilight Sparkle’s brother is Shining Armor, right? And he is married to Princess Cadance. And it’s revealed in…one of the books or something, I don’t know which one, that Cadance is the niece of Princess Celestia. And we also know, thanks to Rarity’s dream sequence in “Ticket Master”, that Celestia is also Prince Blueblood’s aunt. So, since Blueblood and Cadance are both related to Celestia, and Trixie and Shining Armor are both married into her family, then it follows that Twilight and Trixie are now related. Albeit as…step-sisters-in-law…twice removed…or something.

It really would be a pretty funny way to keep Trixie around as a ‘rival’ to now-Princess Twilight. Even if she had learned her lesson. Mostly.
