Here’s a little sneak peek of Twilight’s First Dance, my contribution to the Bronies for Good charity anthology book Bound Together. This 8 page comic follows Twilight Sparkle getting ready for her first dance at Princess Celestia’s School for Gifted Unicorns, and naturally she wants to look her best - but are horseshoes a step too far for our favourite filly?
This comic, set in the same “timeline” as my ongoing Twilight’s First Day comic will only be available in its entirety in the Bound Together anthology book, which will be released in April 2015 and can be preordered here. It will also be sold at MLP conventions in America and Europe, starting with BABSCon in April. Proceeds from the sale of Bound Together are going to the Against Malaria Foundation.
Read about the project and preorder your copy here!
That sums up my opinion on any kind of body modification pretty well.
Or how about tattoos?
“I know what’d be a great idea - I’ll use sharp needles to inject all kinds of volatile chemicals into my skin to draw a pretty picture!”
Or piercings?
“You know what I’m missing? Having a chunk of hard metal inserted into or through my skin for no reason, which can get accidentally caught in all manner of ways on clothing, objects I’m passing by, etc; or the holes in/through my skin could become infected, but that’s okay because it’ll look awesome!
So, yeah… xD
Edited
You could say the same thing about any body modification.

horse shoes are bad for just about any horse. get them booties if you want to protect their feet.
I imagine the traditional horseshoe would be a valuable reinforcement for hard-working ponies like Applejack or Big Mac, kinda like a simplistic steel-toe boot.
Especially considering what parts are associated with glue making.
The irony of using glue on a horse…
One reason I can think of that nailed horseshoes would be logical to the ponies is that, whereas humans have a large foot to put a shoe around and secure it in place with strings/laces, a pony’s hoof does not stick out from the end of its leg and so a shoe would more easily just, well…slip off, if not secured properly.
If you want to see exactly how sensitive the frog really is, watch this video. (Hint: not nearly as much as you may think.)
Walk on hot hard concrete or asphalt barefoot, or better yet gravel then get back to me. Metal flip flops would be WAY preferable. I have a piece of metal. If I could just attach this to my foot somehow I could stop hurting myself. Humm. What if I nailed it into place? Seems pretty straightforward to me.
Beats me.
I know that. But how did someone think of nails rather than something like a shoe?
Hoof protection, obviously.
Imagine if you had to walk on your massive nails without anything covering them.
On the other hoof…
Nonsense. It was just like that when I got my ears pierced.
Something you aren’t going to see a human version of. not without a dark tag at least.
Now that I think about it, yeah, the farriers I knew in Wyoming were skinny little dudes too.
One guy was training to become one, but he had no patience or sense and damn-near got himself kicked in the face… Yeah, ol CB wasn’t the smartest guy around…
Maybe they use horseshoes like slippers? You know, take them on and off when needed?
