Kinda reminds me of Pit from Kid Icarus.

My headcanon:
 
Hippogriffs have two ‘sub-species’ with dominant either pony or griffin genes. Guys like the one above (pony head, girrin’s everything else) aren born like a normal mammal, while ‘normal’ hippogriffs with pony butts are hatched. And both of these ‘sub-species’ can mix with each other.

There’s a lot of comments about the overdraw on DA so I might say a couple things here (just for interest!):
 
The little shelf is based on something called a siper, which lets you shoot shorter arrows. Something similar is used on modern compounds, but they’re built into the bow
 

 
There’s also arrow guides like these, used in both Turkish and Korean archery. You can use them to shoot crossbow quarrels
 

 
And finally the drawing method is using a thumb ring (which has the arrow placed on the opposite side of the bow)
 

 
Someone more experienced in archery can probably pick lots of mistakes in the shooting posture! But at least he’s not as bad as Hawkeye from Avengers

These arrows are way too short to shoot.
