I know zebras like Zecora are not a creature, but there might be a big handful of mythical creatures that could be part of her African-esque country.
Hell, we have creatures in not only in the show, but in the comics of the myths that are part on their cultural habitat.

Sphinx (Egypt) though, we have Anubis and Baast/Bastest who were in the comics. The Sphinx was cameoed in Castle Sweet Castle.
And the entire fox clan are ninjas.
i believe a handful of mythical eastern creatures are a good fit in this universe. I have an idea that kitsune would be an empress of a 1-3 tail vulpine clan which are basically an eastern version of a Diamond Dog clan. Since dogs and foxes are canines.
If things from all over the world are fair game, how about kappas?
It’ll be cool if Charybdis is in the show, or a Kracken. (Squirk from G1) Also, here’s an aztec creature that is extremely obsucre. And the fanmade version. Speaking about aztec creatures, Cipactli; has been mentioned in Daring Do and the Marked Thief of Marapore.
They’d have to change it a little, because how often are axes, unattended or otherwise, a thing on FiM? :)
