I don’t think it comes up much. If you have the key you should know your locker number, if you need to find out the number, it’s probably not your key.

Yeah, it runs from 1 upwards down the hall one way, then comes back down through what I’d assume is approximately 88 the other way on the far wall. (though doorways and other gaps between lockers would probably mess with the exact numerology)
