It would also be a bad idea for her to try to chew off and swallow the arm; this probably could not be done successfully in the available time unless cartoon physics is involved.

I don’t really know how I’d react to that if I’d somehow been thrown into a world of talking horses without any foreknowledge. I might choose to assume that it was a standard greeting or something. I’d probably do something awkward.
