Let me clarify that; most neo-liberals have very mixed opinions on what should and shouldn’t be allowed in society, sometimes aligning themselves with philosophies that are disproportionately beneficial to the upper and upper-middle classes. However, guiding principles of a true progressive’s philosophy are that of, “No harm, no foul” and “Our liberties we prize and our rights we shall maintain.”
 
That said, I would encourage anyone who considers themselves a conservative to also adopt these mantras, if they have not already. We are not so different. Although we differ in many of the means to our ends, the libertarian sect of the right wing is especially in line with these guiding philosophies. I would happily extend an outstretched hand to anyone seeking to further human rights and the agency and sovereignty of the individual with regard to making their own choices in life.

They are two consenting (fictional) adults. Although it is peculiar, if it is what they truly want, then I find it sweet and demanding of respect- or at least acceptance.
 
You don’t have to like something to respect it, and you can actively dislike something while still accepting it.

It’s odd and generally inadvisable, sure. If it becomes abusive, the second that is evident, it needs to be stopped and intervened upon. But no, I don’t agree that it should “never be accepted.”
 
Hurting people against their will and consent should never be accepted. Infringing on the rights of others and abusing people or their property should never be accepted (except for minor fringe cases where it would save the life of another.) Anything else goes. Thus is the true liberal view.
