Actually, Muscular Dystrophy encompasses a range of disorders, some of which do shorten lifespans significantly, but some can still effect muscle strength while allowing the affected to live into old age (Becker’s does so, but to my research, there have literally only been a handful of female cases since it’s an X-linked disorder).
That said, it could also be a disease or treatment where muscle loss or weakness is a peripheral effect or symptom
“muscular dystrophy” came to mind, but that’s terminal stuff, and Scoots doesn’t have that. I dunno why it didn’t occur to me that it couldn’t be muscular but not be so severe :q
Or possibly some sort of muscular issue, possibly as a reflection of how Scoots’ wings aren’t strong enough to really lift her
