pssh. I’m 23 and I still don’t have a license. Everyone keeps calling me “inattentive”
As my previous post said, it can often be just a simple switch that closes the ignition circuit when the clutch is held down.
Interesting information.
What? I didn’t get mine until about two weeks after reaching the age of 20 but I wasn’t around a lot of other people nor was I in college; So was there a comparable amount of peer pressure? I did find it painful to not have a license, though.

Dashboard keys went into the late 60s, MAYBE even early 70s; Our 67 mustangs have them.
As far as the clutch, as long as the stick is in neutral it won’t matter, unless of course there’s a safety switch, but that just disconnects the ignition circuit.

If the person is trained by a relative, the relative must obtain a special instructor’s permit and have a car fitted and inspected with an extra set of brake pedals for the front passenger. The training for B class license requires 18 hours of instructed driving, including a spell on a slippery driving course, and 19 theory lessons.”
Well, I didn’t get that in Pennsylvania. After a doctor’s examination I applied for a learner’s permit and on the same day got it because I answered all the questions on the computer and my vision turned out fine for the visual test. Three months and five days later I had a driver’s test, and got the license the same day. The hardest thing, IMHO? Feeling nervous around the driving instructor. I nearly turned somewhere I wasn’t supposed to at first.
After I got the permit it was good that my Dad was with me sometimes since I nearly ran off the road once while paying more attention to my iPod (Switching Songs) than driving.

No kidding, Sometimes the best thing to do is safely pull over and/or wave them on and if waving a person on be careful about it.
Now, I was driving rather fast on the highway recently while on a near-105 mile trip. (Going around the speed limit and speeding past a vehicle to get past is fast for me.) It’s still silly to tempt car accidents regardless of speed, though…
Yeah, tailgating here in the U.S. is pretty bad at times. I try to avoid it myself and try to put some good distance between me and the guy I’m following. Then I look in my mirror and see a guy following so close to me it’s like he’s trying to drive up into my truck bed.
