I remember a fic where Spike and Octavia actually meet and start to spend time together because of their music. (Spike heard Octavia playing, so he started playing along on the piano.){Aged up Spike.}
Granted, the fic didn’t really get to the romance and hasn’t updated in a long while.
In the ‘Manehattanverse’ (an alternate world where Twilight went to Manehattan instead of Ponyville) Octavia is one of the elements and Spike develops a crush on her, like he does on Rarity in canon.
