Sounds kinda interesting
Going entirely from memory… Celestia is missing. Luna asks the mane 7 to help investigate Star Swirl’s study, where they find a magical portal that leads to another world. This turns out to be a mirror Equestria where Sombra is a just king, Celestia and Luna are villains, and the M7 are evil (though they don’t appear in the story much). Good Sombra reveals that the Celestia from their world used to visit (she and Star Swirl actually visited many worlds), and the two fell in love. Celestia kept visiting Good Sombra despite Star Swirl warning her that if they visited too often the link between the worlds would become unstable.
Mirror Luna and Celestia find out about this world link and have designs on conquering both Equestrias and it’s up to the heroes to stop them.
Yeah, I guess I can agree with you there.
Heck, I saw one thing where Shining saw a vision of sorts (it’s really, REALLY complicated and I wouldn’t be able to direct you to it) where he saw the Mirror versions of him and Cadance and it… pretty much broke him.
I think a bunch of us wanted to see Good Chrysalis, Smart Derpy, Humble Trixie, etc, they might have been interesting protags.
Fuck, follow evil Cadance abusing and break Shining or something. Still better than that bs love story.
Honestly, I applaud her for TRYING to do something completely different with the concept (let’s be real here: Battles between good characters and their mirror counterparts has been done to death), but from what little I’ve personally read of the arc (the past few years of comics, I’ve pretty much just seen bits and pieces of the stories in scattered amounts), it DEFINITELY could’ve been executed better.
Heck, she could’ve kept the “Mirror Mane 6 are petty, pathetic losers” thing and still done something more with it. Maybe, while all the other stuff during the arc was going on, the main Mane 6 would’ve encountered their mirror counterparts, and make note of how pathetic they are, and pretty much walk past them and ignore them while they deal with the more pressing matters.
You could have centered the story around almost any mirror pony and it would have been more interesting.
If the mandate was for “moar celestia” then I’m sure if katie deserves her job she could have done better than this
I highly doubt Hasbro would order her to write a shitty low tier love story in place of something as interesting as a mirror M6, then ditch the marketable and enjoyable idea for the shitty one.
The bad writing is more likely a lack of thought or effort than anything else
Also, I’ve looked around, and she HAS gotten some actual letters from fans where they complained that she contradicted their headcanon. Most notably with Neigh Anything and, yes, even Reflections. So don’t pretend that that kind of fan bitching doesn’t exist at all.
I’m half-convinced that the whole arc might have been a Hasbro mandate (perhaps they wanted to do a lot more with the actual Mirror Universe concept but were forced to shoehorn in the romance angle) and Katie decided to deliberately make it as bad as possible, taking jabs at it through the whole thing, and then declaring Let’s Never Speak of This Again at the end (which might have even been a reference to how it’s likely that none of the events in the comics will ever be referenced in the show). Given that she’s written Celestia AND Luna much better in the past, this seems the only likely explanation. Not that she’d ever say this, since you’re not supposed to talk smack about the people who you work for in public until you don’t work for them anymore (though that doesn’t stop some people).
Yes but it does follow story logic. One even leads to the next. If Twilight Sparkle is on her way to library she’s not suddenly going to be somewhere else, dooming a world with her quest for a husbando, and it doesn’t work if someone goes “lol but don’t take the plot seriously.”
Notice the show and usally not shitty comics doesnt need someone heavily handed telling us that the writing doesn’t count and doesn’t need to make sense? Thats something only hack writers need to do.
read the first thing I said you blind buffoon
one word, anime.
Seems more like that’s all you want to hear.
I don’t know if you notice this, but continuity has never played that much of a role in this show. Try and put the entire four seasons into a series of consequent events and see if you don’t lost your mind.
I can if Reflection whiners keep setting themselves up for it. Because when you you look past all the whining and bitching, that’s really all that they’re saying.
You can’t just trot out that excuse every time.
IF Katie had any faith in her own writing their wouldn’t be a dozen “oh but don’t mind the plot holes/bad writing its just for funny lol” speech bubbles
In other words, you’re mad that they ruined your waifu.
I don’t believe in that waife shite, and she was like that even 1000 years ago, she was the responsible one, she’s made mistakes in the show, she not perfect, people who think she’s perfect think she’s a god, she’s not a god, she’ a demigoddess, she can make mistakes but she is responsible, she can’t just act stupid for plot conveniences, besides, we don’t know exactly how old she is, we know she’s over 1000 years old, but nothing beyond that, is she 2000, is 3000, is she 6000, we don’t know, I don’t know and I’m not going to pretend I know because I don’t, there are plenty of ways to show a supposedly perfect character is flawed but making them a complete idiot for the sake of he story is not one of them, most of the characters in the comic are out of character to the show, it’s been getting worse every issue, their getting more stupider and more idiotic ever book, and I’m bugged if you try to defend something that clearly going down hill in a hand basket and doesn’t seem that it’s going to recover since the wrights are clearly got giving it any thought
You do realize that most of the story takes place 1000 years BEFORE the show began right? The whole point was that despite being a semi-divine big good, Celestia has the same feelings and needs as anyone else and is just as capable of making mistakes. Who hasn’t made a mistake when they’re young and reckless? The plot may have been simplistic I’ll give you that but what do you expect from something based on a kids’ show? But all the bronies care about is “They ruined my waifu!” or “Mirror Sombra” stole my waifu!” so they don’t bother to look any deeper than surface level.
see there’s the problem, the arc doesn’t humanized Celestia, it stupefies her, she always been the responsible one yet she would do something that would doom the entirety of creation just for a guy she hade the hots for, it wasn’t even real love a first sight, a pointless plot device to move a half ass story that was uninspired and with hollowed shells and non of the characters we meat in 2010
