i think the better question would be as to why the user has ‘XP’ rather than ‘7’…
I EVENTUALLY managed to figure out that it’s a DNS preload error that was easily fixed by turning off preloading; it was hell and a half trying to search for a fix, because it’s one of those Google Is Useless situations where there are too many similar problems for this one to get through the signal/noise ratio.
It’s only come up since 27, and as far as I can tell this happens on every XP device; if you lose the connection while a page is loading, it apparently defaults to assuming that it couldn’t connect because the domain doesn’t exist, and it never even tries to connect after that unless the device is restarted. It’s not a problem for anyone on DSL/fiber/cable modem, but I’m either on mobile or satellite, so it was screwing me up everywhere I went.
That almost sounds like a DNS problem. :/
