That, I can actually understand. Yes, the romance was a little tacked on, that’s true. The fact that he was Shimmer’s ex had little to no impact on the narrative; at least nothing that couldn’t have been explained some other way without problems.

I think the hate stems more for how…little he was needed for the plot. Other then giving Twilight someone to crush on (which was cute) his scenes could very well have been cut or he be replaced by some other character.
 
That said, if the movie had been given more time {say 15-30} the writers could have easily worked out all the bugs and problems with the film, giving Flash more focus and a better meaning.

I never really understood the claim that Flash Sentry had no character. He did.
 
He was decent person.
 
Had they made him anymore capable and important, folks would rage that he’s a Gary Stu (and they’d have a point).
 
And had they given him obvious, debilitating flaws, I’d bet money the same folks would rage at him for being a loser and a waste of space.

This is the nonsense you wrote earlier. Since you felt the need to act as though Flash’s “relationship” with Twilight was somehow “flaunted” by Hasbro as a company, I pointed out that this is an absurd claim. Hasbro as a company has yet to benefit in any meaningful way from Flash dancing with Twilight and making her blush.

I could give you several. I already mentioned that in MLP Tales, they had plenty of character, they were just rotten, which apparently would suit you just fine. As for G3 and 3.5, they had personality there too, but they were annoying, and the world-building and storytelling sucked big time. The designs were terrible, and the plots were braindead.

Flash being helpful in EqG makes him exactly what I said, a supporting character. How many times do I have to say it. He was there to help Twilight have additional character development, not steal the spotlight for himself.
 
To you, being a decent fellow evidently is the same as having no character at all. Being some idiotic stalker, on the other hand, is character development to you, despite the fact that it would be an incredibly retarded way to portray an Average Joe like Flash.

Nowhere did I ever state or insinuate that he was shoehorned into the movie because the entire franchise and to a lesser degree the movie, were, are, and always will be nothing more than an attempt to make more money for them.
 
 
You referred to a “lack of characterization” harming the image of the first three gens, which I pointed out doesn’t even apply to gen 2 because it had no show, and doesn’t apply to the others because they had different problems altogether.
 
Name one of the major thing that brought down the first and third generations, without it being traceable back to bad/no characterization as a root source.
 
 
You said Flash was a main character, which is not only stretching the truth, it’s a terribly poor excuse for trying to make a case for hating him.
 
It seems that you forgot or intentionally left out the fact that several points of conflict could not have been resolved in a favorable manner, if it were not for his seemingly too convenient intervention, which is also a point of contention for me in the story as it would seem that either this makes it a deus ex machina, or that flash is a stalker who is waiting to pop up and ‘save the day’ at a moments notice, making him look more like a stalker. Since the latter seems unlikely and would give him some character, I’m going to presume the former.
