This is beyond awesome.
My favorite Burma-Shave bit (from ‘The Verse By The Side Of The Road’) runs:
HE LIT HIS MATCH
TOO NEAR THE TANK
SO NOW THEY CALL HIM
SKINLESS FRANK
WASTE NO
TAIL HAIR
YOU NEED NO BRUSH
FOR A MUZZLE FAIR
BAYMA-SHAVE
WHEN CARRIAGE-PULLING
DO NOT
RACE
IT MIGHT GET STREWN
ALL O’ER THE PLACE
BAYMA-SHAVE
STAR SWIRL WAS
A SCHOLAR SMART
BUT ALWAYS HAD
A BROKEN HEART
HE NEVER HEARD OF
BAYMA-SHAVE
A peach looks good
with lots of fuzz,
but man’s no peach
and never was.
Burma-Shave signs usually did. Though the meter would probably work better if OP used “horse” instead of “pony”. Still clever though.
No, I don’t think that. I like beards, beards can be helpful.
Alrighty, Thanks.
…
Hi.
the Over side.
or, group of thinking most people here aren’t over the calendar age of 40…*
Which group? Over or under?
I’m 22 years old going by the calendar, FYI.
I’m in that group, fwiw.
I think I’m the oldest person on the booru - I was born the year before that buyout.
My favorite Burma Shave series is:
Within this vale…
Of toil and sin…
Your head grows bald…
But not your chin.
Probably because my hairline started receding when I was 16, but my five o’clock shadow kicks in around 2:30.
Now you’ve got me curious…I’m looking it up.
Okay…
Phillip Morris bought them out in 1963, the same year the famous signs disappeared (that’s 10 years before I was born, validating your post) but a new owner brought the name back in 1997 as a nostalgia brand. Seems like you can buy a Burma-Shave brand brush today, but the actual shaving cream is gone.
And went out of business before most of us were born, IIRC.
MUCH.
WIN!
