Description

Uploading this pic as a gesture of solidarity for my friend Jin, who has been subject of intense ridicule this past day after certain BPs fished his pics off a private forum and posted them here for cheap laughs. Normally I’m not the type to publicly reveal my visage, but since that’s been taken out of my hand with the latest Jin dump, I don’t really care.

This one was taken last August, same day as >>586452 when Jin, Twilight, Rarity, and I went on a double date.

Now that I think of it, I don’t drink much Founders except for their Breakfast Stout in the fall - boy do I love that one, could substitute my entire diet with it. XD
Also a big fan of the KBS as said before, and their Russian Imperial Stout is great as well.

Mostly I drink from local Indiana craft breweries like Three Floyds (crucify me as a heretic, but I think their Gumballhead and Zombie Dust are overrated; Alpha King is better, though the bomber releases like Arctic Panzer Wolf, Dreadnaught, and Broo Doo are where it’s at), Flat 12, Daredevil, Brugge, and BIER Brewery. Favorite out-of-state breweries include Schlafly (LOVE the Tasmanian IPA), Bells, and Great Divide.

Totally agree about drinking my stouts and dark beers only slightly chilled, even room temperature; too many people have bought into the belief that beer must be served ice cold, which makes sense if it’s tasteless swill but is entirely counter-productive with a good craft beer. Like a fine wine, a well made ale will release more aromatics as it warms up.

but this is literally the only US beer I’ve ever tasted so far that doesn’t taste exactly like every other frickin’ beer on the market. (this is also why I mooch off others when it comes to cheap alcohol, beers have so little variance in taste for me I don’t see the point in buying them myself. If I must have something from the US I’ll take a bourbon. To use the ol’ coffee analogy, I take bourbons how I like my arrows, straight, narrow, piercing.)
I also find the same problem existing with Japanese and Indian beers, but that is probably just American retail buyers getting only the ones that remind them of crappy US beers.

Awww snap!
I’m on the same page. I used to drink Steelie 40’s back when I was at the air academy to unwind after a long day. Now that I know a thing or two about beer I just can’t go back back to anything less than Euro beer which IMO is far better than American macro beer.

I have to be honest I just don’t care for anything made by Founders. Yes the beer is ok but nothing really sticks out to me. Dragon’s Milk for me anyway is best served slightly chilled at about 45 degrees out of a snifter. It’s really good with something very rich and flavorful like a steak or strong cheese.

As an aside, I just found out Steel Reserve won Gold at the World Beer Cup for American Premium Specialty Lager. No I am not kidding.
