The End wasn't The End - Found a new home after the great exodus of 2012

“The truth about My Little Pony.”

It’s not a truth, it’s just your tastes.
I watched The Crystal Empire a dozen times, it’s one of my favorites.

The joke is that watching paint dry and fashion shows sound pretty boring to most people, while saving an empire and posing as a superhero sound like they should be very exciting. Instead MMDW is one of the least-liked episodes of the series and TCE is probably the most poorly-regarded adventure-type episodes, while pretty much everyone loves Suited For Success. I enjoyed Too Many Pinkie Pies, and I know a lot of people did, and “watching paint dry” is stereotypically very boring. Too Many Pinkie Pies isn’t one of the best episodes (though it is above average in my eyes), and TCE and MMDW aren’t the worst two episodes, but it is funnier to set up the contrast between things which sound really boring and things which sound really interesting.

Sadly, the joke has died because it has been explained. You killed it. This is all your fault.

Well, that is it’s crux, isn’t it? TCE has an epic sounding premise, and it’s start makes one believe that it would be so….But then it pretty much drops it in the middle, before getting it back towards the end.

While it was good, it didn’t live up to the dark tone, epic that it promised. {As well as hitting Twilight with the ‘you don’t need anyone else’ stick, I thought she learned to ‘DODGE’.}

TCE is why I made this:

Really, TCE is very long for how much actual content it has, which is the real problem with it. The door and tower are good, the fair has some fun stuff in it, the chase across the snow was fun (and nicely animated)… but there’s just so much inaction, especially in the first half of the episode, which is particularly forgettable.

Sombra was fine for what he was - a force of nature type villain, more a threatening presence than a character. He wasn’t supposed to be anything else and he did what he needed to do.

The Crystal Empire was honestly very good. I honestly put it as my second favorite season opener. {Discord still has number one.}
Sombra was actually a good villain, in my personal opinion. {The only downside to that episode was just how Twilight thought she had to do it alone. It felt almost like she had reverted to her first episode performance.}

MMDW had some great RD development. Yeah, the rest of the main six acting OOC. {Not to mention Ponyville was having a severe case of ‘problems’.} But Dash, except for instantly forgiving her friends, was spot on and actually likable.

Suited for Success was perfect. I literally can’t think of anything wrong with that episode.

Too Many Pinkie Pies, while fun, had problems in the third act. {Discovering the hidden book, Twilight’s method of weeding out the false Pinkie Pies.}
