This was the real reason they imprisoned Discord; he was horning in on their act.

The wording of Celestia’s journal seemed to be implying that SHE was making the traps an Luna had her own personal favorites. I was under the impression that all those traps were placed there recreationally. Probably the sisters’ way of having fun in a large, spacious castle

Considering that Celestia likes to play some jokes on others (like the Cakes in season 1), and Luna was more serious, it’s the other way around.

NMM forgot to set them. She was banished for a 1000 years.
 
Luna decided to go back later and set them so S4 E3 would have funnies in it.

See, I think of it in a more adult way. You know the pit with the convenient hole?
 
So lets say a burly Earth pony stallion, or a gorgeous unicorn, or a charming pegasus are there to see the royal sisters? And Luna just happens to be playing the organ at the time. Whoops, the stallion is in the pit now.

Not all of them were tied to it, like the pressure plate that Angel set off to trap FS and Rara.  
Come to think of it, why didn’t anyone set anything off the first time they came here to fight Nightmare Moon if there were so many of them?

So the two share a castle and it’s full of traps.  
Celestia moves to Canterlot and there’s no traps in that one. (just a crystal dungeon)  
So is Luna the practical joker of the pair?
