It looks like this is the origin – an early draft of the DVD press materials. Were I to guess, they probably switched back to the Equestrian names to avoid trademark problems…
 
I wouldn’t be surprised, though, if the ‘actual’ characters in the EqG-verse have non-racehorse names, and the portal is doing some pretty serious automatic translations for Twilight Sparkle’s and Sunset Shimmer’s benefit. After all, the characters back in Equestria probably sound like this in ‘reality’…

Black twilight is a good thing. if you dont like it then dont be an asshole about it. simple as that. everyone has preferences as to what they think the character looks like. dont complain when someone else’s perception is different than yours.

Twilight is based on the model of the “Japanese magical schoolgirl”. I wonder why so few people depict her humanization as Asian, even though the schoolgirl uniform seems not to be a problem.

That still doesnt mean that Twilight has to be black, white or Asian. In fact, it doesn’t mean that any character has to be black skin or white skin.  
These kinds of arguments is one of the reasons I support Equestria Girls in the first place.

The difference is, your argument doesn’t really have merit.  
Equestria is clearly based on a western monarchy, mostly Britain in the pre-parliament days, except with a Princess instead of a queen. Ergo, it’s more reasonable to assume a more Caucasian appearance.  
Zecora is a Zebra, specifically a Mountain Zebra, and would almost certainly be of African descent if humanized because Zebras are only native to one continent.
